We are “Doors”
Michael, a co-learner at my spiritual counseling lectures lit a spark in my mind to ruminate on “Door”. He is a lawyer and a prison chaplain. He is gentlest of persons around. “Word of God is a door, where we pass through God and come out of Him”, he said. “Yes, there can be many doors to God and to ourselves”, I said to myself.
Doors—we pass in and out of them so many times in any given day. Some doors are locked permanently and we wonder what the use of them is. Some are wide open all the time; still make us wonder what the use of them is. Some are opened at specific hours giving us restrictions. Some are very securely locked though safe-keeping nothing of great value. Sometimes we also wonder at some spaces needing doors and locks but left unguarded.
Why there are door? What are they for? We have created doors and we maintain and use them for various reasons.
Doors lock us indoors and keep us out of danger…
Doors protect valuables…
Doors keep strangers at bay…
Doors give us privacy and keep us in peace…
Doors keep us secluded away from intruders…
Doors restrict un-appointed and insensitive visitors…
Doors always say, “use the other door”…
Doors always warning, “Do not enter”…
Doors announcing, “You are welcome”…
We interact with and through doors. We slam doors when we are annoyed. We peep through when we need secret information. We keep watching through them when expecting a loved one. We sleep near them when we are in anxiety. We leave them open when we feel like welcoming. We even leave notice on them when we don’t want to be disturbed. We give numerous instructions to our doors to speak on our behalf.
Doors symbolize each one of us. They tell us who we are and what we are. They represent us in many ways. They can be the other side of each one of us. They speak many things about our personality, our attachments, belongings, and things we have. Doors are symbols of our personality and our relationships. What kind of a door are we?
Door wide-open?
Door secularly locked?
Door having a lock with many keys?
Door with lenses?
Doors with regular messages?
